The Reunion Project is proud to be a supporting partner of Seven Days in June, a “decentralized, nonpartisan, grassroots national campaign focused on elevating health as a governing priority” and raising “awareness about the impact of healthcare funding cuts and policy changes on communities across the country.”
National actions will take place June 1–7, 2026, a critical time, as June includes the largest number of primaries ahead of the November election. Organizers are encouraging communities nationwide to host local actions, vigils, conversations, and events centered on the message: Health Is Primary.
One of the campaign’s major goals is to hold simultaneous candlelight vigils across the country at sunset on June 5. The date also marks HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day and the 45th anniversary of the first published reports of what would later become known as AIDS. On June 5, 1981, the CDC published the now-historic Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR)article, “Pneumocystis Pneumonia—Los Angeles,” documenting a rare lung infection among a group of gay men in Los Angeles, the first official report of the AIDS epidemic.
The national campaign was envisioned by activist Cleve Jones, founder of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. Actor and advocate Noah Wyle (The Pitt, ER) has also joined the effort in support of healthcare workers and public health advocacy.
A broad coalition of frontline healthcare workers, public health professionals, faith leaders, service providers, labor organizations, and civil rights groups has come together for Seven Days in June: Health Is Primary, a week of action responding to proposed healthcare cuts expected to impact communities nationwide.
